Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
