Stu is regarded by most to the finest No Limit Texas hold em Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in 1953 and started betting poker prior to becomming a teenager.

The young gambler started out playing gin and at the age of ten had won his 1st gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the small poker genius had become a pro and dropped out of school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning ten thousand dollars in a gin tournament without losing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York today.

The fast speaking wiz kid has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting greats like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a actual talent for betting poker except regardless of his achievements in Texas hold’em poker, he favored wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may several day be a much better No Limit Texas holdem player than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a greater gin gambler.

In 1980 Stu was put on the global map as one of the very best Hold em Poker players in the entire world when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the 1st time. Amazingly it was the very first time he had entered the tournament.

The following year he dismissed any thoughts that it had been luck, by effectively defending his crown. And in ‘97 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

But this poker legend also battled with drug abuse and a year following succeeding his 3rd title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to medical doctors, he had died from a heart attack which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had began with nothing but his ability and expertise for the game which made this poker great a millionaire quite a few times over.
