Annie Duke may not have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but Annie is still one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run amok following a huge success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mum" to her 4 kids. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of card players. If you do not believe that, observe her sibling, Howard Lederer, in action, Howard taught her the correct way to play the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has won her share of difficult tables, which includes eliminating Howard a few times on several occasions.
Winning over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to sharpen his techniques and become a big player at the poker table.
You might just notice her at the Bellagio, you will catch her on television and you may even compete against her in an internet poker game, but don’t bank on an easy win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you will not beat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
