Poker has become world acclaimed lately, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years many variants on the first poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to 21 than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the dealer rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or different kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up prior to the croupier announcing "No more bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course every one of the different players are given 5 cards. Once you have looked at your hand and the bank’s 1st card, you have to in turn make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s value is equal to your beginning ante, meaning that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your ante goes immediately to the casino. After the wager comes the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, with a sum on par with the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The dealer pony’s up cash even with your ante and controlled expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
