Ah, the steam. If a poker gambler states never to have looked down the barrel of an approaching poker steam – they’re either lying or they haven’t been gambling very long. Bad losses are going to happen. It is an unavoidable outcome of competing in Hold’em, or for that matter any type of poker.
Since we are assumingly (nearly all of us) in the game for one reason – to win money, it certainly makes sense that we would bet appropriately to maximize winnings. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a gigantic hit in a NL game and your stack is at one hundred and twenty dollars. You have burned eighty dollars in a round where you should have picked up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and enjoyed a ten to one advantage. And that fish! He sucked you out on the river? – Well stop right here. This is a quintessential choice for a brand-new player to start tilting. They really just blew too much cash on one round that they really should have won and they are aggravated
