Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.
Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
