Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
