Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once invisible game, has expanded in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha/8 begins just like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of betting ensues where players can bet, check, or drop out. Three cards are given out, this is called the flop. A further sequence of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of wagering happens and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers will need to make the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where many entrants often get flustered. Unlike Holdem, where the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player must utilize exactly 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical concept in just about every poker game.

A low hand is more complex, but really free’s up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the worst hand that can be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the higher hand. When there is no low hand available, the high hand takes the entire pot.

It may seem difficult at the start, after a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the fundamental subtleties of play simply enough. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and since such a large number of cards are being used at the same time, Omaha/8 offers an amazing collection of betting options and owing to the fact that you have many players shooting for the high hand, as well as several trying for the low. If you prefer a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is worth your time to compete in Omaha/8.
