Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
