Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world could be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen betting on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
