Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
