Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
