Pai Gow Poker is a current game with old ancestry. Based on the ancient Chinese tile game and the current American variation of poker, Pai Gow poker marries the east with the wild west in a fantastic game for starting players.
Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player vs. the house, unlike nearly all other poker games that players bet with other players. By playing against the dealer, new players don’t need to be concerned about other, more advanced players winning their moolla.
Another Pai Gow benefit is the fairly slow game play, novices can take their time and scheme without needing to make hasty decisions.
It’s also easier to gamble on for an extended time with basically a tiny amount of money since, to not win, both of your hands has to be lower than each of the houses hands.
Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the regular 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The player is dealt 7 cards face up and the dealer is given 7 cards face down.
One five card hand and a two card hand must be made from the seven cards, the five card hand has to be higher than the two card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand values to be better than the dealer’s.
