Double-hand Poker is a modern game with old origins. Founded on the old Chinese domino game and the current American variation of poker, Pai Gow poker combines the east with the western in a wonderful game for beginner level players.

Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player vs. the house, not like nearly all other poker games that players compete against other players. By wagering against the dealer, new players don’t have to be concerned about any other, more advanced players winning their cash.

A further Pai Gow advantage is the generally leisurely game pace, novices should be able to take their time and strategize without having to make quick decisions.

It is also much simpler to play for a long time with just a small amount of money since, to lose, each of your hands has to be under both of the houses hands.

Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the normal 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The player is assigned seven cards faces showing and the croupier is dealt 7 cards face down.

One 5 card hand and a 2 card hand need to be made from the 7 cards dealt, the five card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To win, a player is required to have both of his hand totals to be larger than the casino’s.
